Elusive Calm
A Somatic Space for LGBTQIA+ Nervous System Care
with Sharon Costianes, GCFP
If you’ve been feeling on edge — you are not alone.
So many of us in the LGBTQIA+ community are moving through the world in a state of alert — bracing for the next headline, navigating unsafe environments, carrying the accumulated stress of being who we are in a culture that doesn’t always make space for us to simply be.
This level of vigilance takes a toll. On our sleep, our energy, our ability to feel connected to ourselves and to others.
This class is a place to lay some of that down.
Elusive Calm is a space to pause. To gently land.
To remember what calm and ease can feel like in your body — even if just for a moment.
In this one-hour, trauma-informed somatic space, we’ll slow everything down. You’ll be gently guided through grounding movements and body-based practices that invite your nervous system to soften and settle. There’s no pressure to perform or push — just a quiet return to yourself, at your own pace.
“There’s nothing to perform here. Nothing to fix.
You don’t have to be anywhere other than where you are.”
This space is for you if you’re longing for:
A break from chronic tension and emotional fatigue
A sense of safety and belonging in your own body
A moment of rest without having to explain or justify
A reminder that you are not alone
What to Expect in This Class
(Feldenkrais Method Somatic Practice)
Gentle, slow movements — Most are done lying down. Nothing strenuous or fast.
Lots of resting — We pause often. Rest is part of the process.
Move in a way that feels good — You’re always encouraged to listen to your body and skip anything that doesn’t feel right.
No right or wrong — This is about exploring, not getting it perfect.
Small movements, big shifts — Even tiny changes can bring more ease and awareness.
You set the pace — You’re in charge of how much you do and how deeply you go.
A chance to settle your nervous system — Many people leave feeling calmer, clearer, and more connected to themselves.

You don’t have to have done anything like this before.
You don’t have to explain or justify where you are. You just get to arrive, breathe, and be held.
You don’t need any prior experience — just something to lie down on (a yoga mat, towel, or blanket will do) and clothes you feel comfortable moving in. Modifications will be made for those who cannot lie comfortably on the floor.
Registration is required.
Pay what you can — suggested donation is $25.
Your contribution helps support a lesbian-owned family business dedicated to creating healing spaces for our community.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
